We offer a wide variety of pre-finished hardwoods from timeless oak and hickory woods to gorgeous exotics. Pre-finished hardwoods have their finish applied at the mills where they are made. This allows the manufacturer to achieve a more durable finish than sand-on-site hardwoods. They can also be walked on right away after installation.
Solid vs Engineered Hardwood Flooring
Solid hardwood flooring is made of a single, solid ¾” cut of wood and can be sanded and refinished several times over the life of the floor. The ability to sand and refinish gives homeowners the opportunity to repair surface blemishes and scratches, but also allows the color of stain to be changed as their taste changes.
Engineered hardwood flooring is made of a surface veneer backed by several ply layers that are bonded together with extreme pressure and heat. These layers stabilize the floor and allow it to be installed below grade and withstand moisture and temperature changes better than a solid hardwood.
Bamboo is a highly-renewable resource as most bamboo stalks are mature enough to harvest after about 3-5 years. Bamboo flooring is available in solid and engineered as well as different directions of graining and compressed formats. These different types of bamboo come with their own unique appearances that are sure to make your floor stand apart from more common hardwoods.
Cork flooring is one of the softest “hard” surface floors you will walk on. Ever-changing manufacturing techniques have created many options for style and color in cork. Cork flooring is made from the bark of cork oak trees- which grows back over the course of a few years- making it a very “green” flooring option. Cork’s softness has many obvious advantages, but it also can act as a good insulator and reduce noise transmission.
